The Voxel Agent’s Train Conductor 2: USA Launches on iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch
0 Comments | Posted by AgentSimon in Press Releases, Train Conductor
MELBOURNE, Australia – July 13th, 2010 – iPhone owners and train aficionados can now take control over locomotives barreling through famous U.S. destinations in Train Conductor 2: USA (TC2), by Aussie developer The Voxel Agents. With the swipe of a finger, players get to direct trains passing through Miami Beach, the Grand Canyon, Nashville, Las Vegas and New York City.
Far from a simulation, TC2 is all about quick strategic decisions and superior hand-eye coordination as players guide locomotives across the horizontal tracks while avoiding head-on collisions with other trains. Several types are available: steam trains, electric subway trains, monorails, ghost trains and even “skull trains.” The game gets progressively harder as players advance, with an increased number of trains varying in length, speed and frequency. The new survival mode builds on the basic gameplay and turns players’ crash-avoidance skills into an art form.
Train Conductor 2: USA features many enhancements to the original game, including improved menu art, a simplified HUD (heads-up display), new music, new train models, a different look for stopped trains and varied environmental and weather effects, as well as five new levels featuring custom gameplay scenarios for U.S. landmarks:
- Miami Beach – Control the Metromovers on skyrails (similar to monorails)
- The Grand Canyon – Connect steam trains over the gorge; deliver the trains carrying bombs before they fall into the deep crevice!
- New York City – Deliver subway trains on the authentic color-coded New York City lines; 1, 4, A, Q and S. Pillars between the tracks add an extra level of challenge
- Nashville – Ghost and skull trains turn the country music capital on its head
- Las Vegas – Sort the pink and green ghost trains before they get caught by Hector “The Fare Evader”!
“We came, we saw and we conquered — Australia. Now the challenge is America!” says Simon Joslin, CEO, The Voxel Agents. “We’ve added so much content to the game that Train Conductor fans will have a hard time putting the sequel down. Beware of extended sessions while at work – you might get fired!”
TC2 is solidly integrated with social networks. Those on Facebook can post TC2 scores to a friend’s profile or even compete in a friends-only leaderboard. Players can also post their scores on Twitter, challenging the entire planet in the process.
Train Conductor 2: USA is available on Apple’s App Store and iTunes for $0.99. An iPad version is also in the works – stay tuned.

Train Conductor, listed in Apple’s “Highly Addictive Games” promotion, receives a new level: The Barossa Valley.
0 Comments | Posted by AgentSimon in Press Releases, Train Conductor
The critically acclaimed Train Conductor just got bigger. Insatiable fans have been delivered a brand new level set in the heart of Australia’s great wine region, The Barossa Valley. Recently featured on Apple’s “Highly Addictive Games” list and named as “Game of the Year 2009″ by DIYGamer, Train Conductor is now a rare ‘must have’ for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The new level features the relentless challenge of two opposing train systems which threaten to spoil the peace and quiet of a Barossa Valley vineyard. The region needs a skilled train conductor to ensure the freshly harvested grapes can be processed into wine and delivered to market on time.
Various gameplay innovations include the addition of empty transport trains that don’t need to be rerouted, but that can make life difficult if not managed correctly. The new gameplay elements present a unique experience to Train Conductor fans that builds upon the existing game.
Responding to player feedback, this update includes an improved HUD layout that enables players to better access the fast forward and pause buttons.
The Voxel Agents are continuing to add more content to the game and are working hard to create more levels that explore great locations around Australia and the world.

The Voxel Agents release Agent Duski: Dolphin Hero for iPhone and iPod touch.
0 Comments | Posted by AgentSimon in Press Releases
Melbourne independent game trio, The Voxel Agents, today released their first title, “Agent Duski: Dolphin Hero”. This imaginative and enjoyable title for the iPhone and iPod Touch is the first official mark on the Indie games map for the creative team.
Set in a city flooded by a rampaging monster, where citizens are leaping from buildings into the rising waters, you must help Agent Duski the Dolphin Hero save the drowning victims and return them to safety aboard the party boat.
Use your finger to make Duski swim, flip and jump to collect either purple or aqua humans – but beware of the giant Puffer Fish that are floating downtown, who can topple your load of rescued humans and seriously set back your mission!
Dolphin Hero requires your most creative management and planning skills, as well as the ability to respond quickly to emergencies. Rescue multiple victims at once for high score multipliers (and grab some “awesome cakes” on the way to the boat to boost your score!).
As more and more terrified humans take to the water, it’ll take all you’ve got to get everyone back on board the party boat. As the pace of the game builds you’ll soon find the drowning people aren’t the only ones in deep water…

The Voxel Agents establish in Southbank, Melbourne
0 Comments | Posted by AgentSimon in Press Releases
The Voxel Agents have arrived in Melbourne: operation objective? To create fun games that are easy to pick up, challenging to master and above all… supremely addictive! The Voxel Agents strive to make games that convert the unconverted, challenge those with a hard core, and leave a smile on everyone’s faces. Their quirky and innovative design approach makes for highly original and engaging games, and has players saying, “addictive gameplay”, “nuts” and “can’t stop playing”.
No strangers to the world of gaming, The Voxel Agents have an impressive record both individually and as a team. Having met whilst studying (double degrees in BCI (Comm Design)/ BIT) at QUT in Brisbane, Australia, they gained their first professional experience together, working on the Alternate Reality Game (ARG), “SCOOT” hosted by the Melbourne Museum. SCOOT is a project fusing real and virtual worlds, where players compete in teams using computer games, mobile phones and physical clues to complete a Melbourne-wide treasure hunt. Wildly successful since it’s inception in 2004, SCOOT has become an annual event, which still uses the QUT team’s original game ideology, and attracts hundreds of players each year.
The team finally crystalised after winning the annual game creation marathon, the “48hr Game Making Challenge”, for two years straight with their team SIF90 (where – yep, you guessed it – teams must create a complete game within 48 hours). Even Triple J radio wanted in on the action, covering their 2008 win for the game Melonauts on the Triple J Hack radio show. With mounting public interest in their consecutive winning games “Sticky Geckos” and “Melonauts”, the team decided to branch out, to further develop what was clearly becoming a winning formula, as professional independents.
The three founding Voxel Agents based in Melbourne are Simon Joslin, Thomas Killen, and Matthew Clark. Simon previously worked as a game designer at Halfbrick Studios (Avatar: Into The Inferno – NDS). Thomas Killen created innovative online narratives while at Hoodlum Interactive (Lost ARG – web). Matthew Clark worked on top level games for the Nintendo Wii at Pandemic Studios Brisbane.
